Stolt Tankers teams with NYK to order 6 chemical tankers in China | Shipyard news | Shipping Telegraph

Stolt-Nielsen, in collaboration with NYK Line and Stolt Tankers (NST), has initiated a fleet renewal effort with an order for six 38,000 deadweight tonnage stainless steel chemical tankers from Nantong Xiangyu shipyard in China. These vessels, scheduled for delivery between late 2026 and 2029, resemble Stolt Tankers' previous order from Wuhu Shipyard. Featuring 30 cargo tanks, they offer enhanced cargo flexibility and prioritize fuel efficiency through various energy-saving technologies and shore power connections. Moreover, they are designed for potential retrofitting for battery and methanol propulsion.

According to Udo Lange, CEO of Stolt-Nielsen, this order aligns with the company's strategy to maintain its core fleet's scale by replacing retiring vessels, ensuring continued service quality for customers. Hironobu Watanabe, NYK Line's Managing Executive, expressed satisfaction with the partnership's longevity and emphasized the importance of transitioning to more fuel-efficient vessels to uphold reliable transportation services while advancing energy transition goals. This procurement underscores a concerted effort to modernize and enhance efficiency in maritime operations.
