Denmark-based offshore wind installation vessel company Cadeler has solidified an order for an additional newbuild at COSCO Heavy Industries in Qidong, China, expanding its future fleet to 11 vessels. This move marks Cadeler's continued commitment to advancing offshore wind energy infrastructure.Supported by the BW Group and Scorpio, Cadeler's third hybrid design newbuild, capable of conversion from a foundation installation vessel to a wind turbine installation unit, is set for delivery in the first half of 2027. The vessel's construction comes with a significant investment of $400 million.

The third vessel will feature specifications similar to the first two in the series, boasting a deck space of 5,600 square meters, a payload capacity exceeding 17,000 tonnes, and a main crane capacity to be disclosed later. These A-class vessels are designed to transport and install either seven complete 15 MW turbine sets per load or six sets of 2XL monopile foundations, reinforcing Cadeler's capability to support large-scale offshore wind projects efficiently.
