New 63,500DWT Bulk Carriers to Strengthen Zhejiang’s Maritime Presence

On January 14th, Zhejiang Shipping Group and Zhejiang Zheshang Financial Leasing signed an agreement with Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding formerly known as Sanity Shipbuilding (Yangzhou) for the construction of two 63,500DWT Ultramax bulk carriers. The vessels will be built by Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding, owned by Zhejiang Zheshang Financial Leasing, and bareboat chartered to a Singapore-based company.

This marks the first collaboration between Zhejiang Shipping Group and Zhejiang Zheshang Financial Leasing, initiated under the guidance of Zhejiang Provincial Transportation Group. The project reflects efforts to strengthen internal cooperation between the two companies, aligning with directives to enhance synergies within the Zhejiang maritime sector.

The agreement highlights a shared commitment to expanding the ship leasing market. The two companies aim to explore opportunities involving various types of vessels with different tonnages and uses.
