German shipowner Elbdeich Reederei has placed an order for two 1,900 TEU feeder container ships with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding reported Shipbroker MB. The contract, valued at approximately $32.2 million per vessel, includes an option for two additional ships. Delivery of the conventionally fuel-powered vessels is scheduled for early 2027.

This latest order builds on Elbdeich Reederei's existing relationship with the Chinese shipyard. In October 2023, the company signed an agreement with Huangpu Wenchong for 2+2 1,250 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships. These vessels are under long-term charter to the Danish Unifeeder Group. In early 2024, the two optional ships from this agreement were confirmed.Elbdeich’s continued collaboration with Huangpu Wenchong underscores the shipowner’s commitment to fleet expansion and diversification while leveraging the Chinese yard’s expertise in building modern, efficient vessels.
