Vanhui Shipping, a Hong Kong-based maritime firm, has announced its latest venture to bolster its dry bulk fleet by procuring two ultramax vessels from Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering Equipment. These 63,500 deadweight tonnage (dwt) units are slated for delivery in the first half of 2027, with the financial details kept confidential. This move marks a significant expansion for Vanhui Shipping, which currently boasts six bulk carriers in its fleet. Notably, the company's last newbuild acquisition was in June 2020 when it took delivery of 63,900 dwt units from Nantong Xiangyu shipyard.

Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering Equipment's involvement extends beyond Vanhui Shipping, as it recently secured ultramax orders from Franbo Lines, a Taiwanese bulker owner. This marks Franbo Lines' inaugural newbuilding deal in China, with four vessels booked and one slated for early delivery in May 2025.The transactions highlight a surge in newbuilding activity within the maritime industry, underscoring companies' strategies to enhance and modernize their fleets amidst evolving market dynamics. Vanhui Shipping's latest procurement underscores its commitment to strategic growth and competitiveness within the global shipping landscape.
