Navigator Gas, the world’s largest owner of handysize liquefied gas carriers, has exercised its option to order two additional 48,500 cbm liquefied ethane gas (LEG) carriers from Jiangnan Shipyard. This decision follows the initial contract signed on August 23 for the construction of two LEG carriers, bringing the total order to four vessels. The two newly ordered vessels share the same specifications and pricing as the original pair, each valued at $102.9 million. These advanced ships are designed for versatility, capable of transporting a range of liquefied gas cargoes, including ethane, ethylene, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and ammonia. Delivery is scheduled for November 2027 and January 2028, respectively.

Jiangnan Shipyard's innovative “BrilliancE®” B-Type tank system is a key feature of these vessels, along with advanced technologies such as shore power reservation, ammonia fuel readiness, carbon capture capabilities, and all-electric deck machinery. These energy-efficient features position the vessels as prototypes for future sustainable ship designs. The first two carriers from the initial contract are slated for delivery in March and July 2027. The total value of the four vessels now ordered reaches $411.6 million, reinforcing Navigator Gas’s commitment to advancing its fleet with cutting-edge, environmentally conscious designs.
