Swedish shipping company Stena RoRo has placed an order for two additional multi-fuel E-Flexer roll-on/roll-off passenger (RoPax) vessels at China’s CMI Jinling, Weihai Shipyard. These vessels, designed for operation in the Adriatic Sea, will be chartered long-term by Greek shipping company Attica Group. The new vessels, each measuring 240 meters in length, will feature multi-fuel engines capable of running on conventional marine fuel or biodiesel. They will also be prepared for methanol use and equipped with a battery notation, enabling future propulsion partly or completely via batteries, depending on advancements in battery technology.

E-Flexer series ships are larger than standard RoPax ferries and benefit from optimized hull, propeller, and rudder designs. They are built to accommodate new environmentally friendly technologies, aligning with modern sustainability standards. These new orders mark the fourteenth and fifteenth vessels in Stena RoRo’s E-Flexer series, with deliveries scheduled for April and August 2027. Upon delivery, the vessels will operate under a 10-year bareboat charter with Attica Group, which includes a purchase option after five years and an additional option for two more vessels. Stena RoRo currently has 15 confirmed E-Flexer orders and two "New Max" RoRo vessels with CMI Jinling, Weihai Shipyard, with ten ships already delivered.
