In an early morning incident on the Yangtze River, two bulk carriers, Mirabella and Omega, owned by Safe Sea Services and Gamma Shipping, collided about 15 nautical miles north of the Yangtze River Estuary. The 46,600 dwt Mirabella, carrying 45,000 tons of iron ore, collided with the 48,800 dwt Omega, loaded with 47,000 tons of steel billets. The Omega suffered water ingress, prompting fears of sinking, while the Mirabella sustained damage but anchored safely. Authorities from Donghai Rescue Bureau successfully secured the Omega and rescued its 21 crew members. The incident underscores the importance of prompt investigation and recovery efforts.
