Udupi Cochin Shipyard Ltd (UCSL), a subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL), has successfully launched the first of six general cargo vessels for Norwegian shipping company Wilson ASA. The launch took place on Monday and marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two firms.

 The vessel, with a capacity of 3,800 Deadweight Tonnage (DWT), is designed by Conoship International, a Netherlands-based firm. It incorporates eco-friendly features such as diesel-electric propulsion and provisions for wind-assisted propulsion, highlighting its commitment to sustainable shipping.Measuring 89.43 meters in length, 13.2 meters in width, and with a draft of 4.2 meters, the ship is optimized for transporting general cargo along Europe’s coastal routes. This initiative reflects UCSL’s growing expertise in delivering technologically advanced and environmentally sustainable vessels to meet global maritime needs.
