https://tdl.ink/p/604written by Raghib . (8 months ago)
A UK based leading Marine insurance and transit claim consultant has reported that the Chemical/Products Tanker, KEOYOUNG PIONEER, ran aground on reefs northwest of Kuchinoshima Island, Japan, on April 16, 2024.
The vessel, built in 2006, sustained damage to its hull and is reportedly leaking fuel as a result of the grounding. The KEOYOUNG PIONEER, a South Korean flagged chemical tanker, is classified under the Chemical/Small 1 segment with an IMO number of 9355020, MMSI number 441656000, and callsign D7TI. The vessel has a summer deadweight of 3970 tonnes and was en route from Kemen, China, to Nagoya, Japan, when the incident occurred.
Authorities are likely investigating the cause of the grounding and the extent of the damage. It is not yet known if there were any injuries or if the leak poses a significant environmental threat.
This is a developing story, and further information will be reported as it becomes available.
