Tokyo’s Hosei Kisen Expands Fleet with Two New MPP Vessels from Higaki Shipbuilding

Hosei Kisen has awarded a contract to Higaki Shipbuilding for the construction of two multipurpose (MPP) vessels, each with a deadweight of 17,000 tons. Scheduled for delivery in 2026, these vessels will enter into charter service for Denmark’s Ultrabulk. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.Hosei Kisen, recognized for its specialization in MPP vessels, currently manages a fleet of 11 ships. With this latest contract, the company now has a total of four vessels under construction at Japanese shipyards, signaling a significant expansion of its operational capabilities.These newbuilds will enhance Ultrabulk’s capacity in the MPP sector, aligning with global demand for versatile shipping solutions that can accommodate varied cargo types.
