Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping, a Chinese bulk carrier owner and operator, is solidifying its expansion strategy by increasing its order for methanol-ready Kamsarmax newbuilds at Wuhu Shipyard. The company has exercised options for an additional four 89,000 dwt vessels, raising its total orders at the yard to eight.
This follows a prior agreement made late last year, where Fujian Guohang initially secured newbuilding slots for up to 10 vessels. The original arrangement included four firm orders, each costing approximately $36.5 million, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2026, along with provisions for six optional units. By firming up four of these optional ships, the company is advancing its fleet expansion and reinforcing its focus on environmentally sustainable shipping solutions.
These methanol-ready vessels are designed to accommodate future shifts to alternative fuels, aligning with the industry’s push towards greener operations. Fujian Guohang’s strategic fleet investment underscores its commitment to growth and environmental compliance, particularly in a market increasingly prioritizing low-emission shipping solutions. The expansion highlights the company’s proactive approach to maintaining competitiveness and adhering to evolving regulatory standards.
