North Star has chosen India's Cochin Shipyard to construct its new hybrid-electric Service Operations Vessel (SOV), committed to a decade-long minimum charter at Germany's He Dreiht offshore wind farm for EnBW. The VARD 407 design SOV, tailored to EnBW's specifications, follows North Star's contract with EnBW on February 1, 2024. Scheduled for long-term charter from late 2025, this marks North Star's seventh hybrid SOV construction. The selection of Cochin Shipyard reflects their expertise, skills, and track record in delivering hybrid ships on schedule, aligning with North Star's goal of adding 40 hybrid vessels to its fleet by 2040.
