German shipping company Hammonia Reederei has signed an agreement with China's Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), to enhance its fleet of multipurpose heavylift vessels. The contract includes the construction of four new vessels, each with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 13,500, and options for an additional four ships of the same type.

While the financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, the newbuilds will play a critical role in strengthening Hammonia's operations. These vessels will be 150 meters in length and equipped with advanced lifting capacity, featuring two cranes capable of handling 450 tons each. The ships are also designed to meet the latest environmental and emission standards, ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements. The delivery schedule for the new vessels has yet to be confirmed, but this deal marks a significant step in Hammonia's growth and fleet modernization efforts.
