Royal Niestern Sander Shipyard successfully launched the M.V. Alexia, the latest addition to Wagenborg Shipping’s fleet, marking the fourth vessel in the EasyMax series. The newbuild is a successor to the award-winning Egbert Wagenborg and its sister ships Máxima and Amalia. Designed with energy efficiency at its core, the Alexia boasts a cargo capacity exceeding 14,000 tonnes and a hold capacity of 625,000 cubic feet.

Despite the vessel's substantial cargo capacity, Wagenborg has managed to maintain a relatively modest overall size. Powered by an engine with less than 3,000 kW, the M.V. Alexia is noted for its low fuel consumption and superior sea-keeping performance. The vessel is part of Wagenborg's ongoing commitment to sustainability, achieving more than 60% savings in CO2 emissions compared to similar vessels in its class. As a result, the Alexia holds a Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) A-rating, a top industry standard for energy efficiency, which measures emissions per cargo-carrying capacity and nautical mile. The Alexia is scheduled to undergo commissioning and sea trials in the coming weeks, with final delivery to Wagenborg expected by the end of Q3 2024.
