Singapore-based shipping company Jaldhi Overseas, a subsidiary of India’s Bothra Group, has expanded into the very large ammonia carrier (VLAC) segment with an order for up to four vessels at Jiangnan Shipyard in China. The company has placed firm orders for two 93,000 cubic meter gas carriers and has also signed a letter of intent to acquire two additional units from the same shipyard.

This strategic move marks Jaldhi Overseas' significant foray into the specialized ammonia transport sector, aligning with the growing global demand for ammonia as a key component in clean energy and industrial applications. The vessels are expected to strengthen the company’s position in the global shipping market, particularly in the niche segment of gas carriers. Jaldhi Overseas' expansion into this new segment underscores the Bothra Group’s commitment to diversifying its maritime portfolio and capitalizing on emerging opportunities within the shipping industry.
