A collision occurred between the container ship Tokyo Bay and the ferry FB-30 in the Santos channel at approximately 1:15 PM on Monday, 16 September 2024. The Tokyo Bay, a Liberian-flagged vessel, measures 270.9 meters in length and 42.8 meters in width. The ferry was docked and unoccupied at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. The container ship later berthed at the DP World Santos terminal.

In an official statement, the Brazilian Navy, via the São Paulo Port Authority (CPSP), confirmed the collision occurred during the ship’s entry maneuver into the Santos Port Canal. Both vessels sustained minor damage, with no signs of water pollution or disruptions to navigation.

Following the incident, CPSP dispatched a team of specialists to the site to collect evidence for an administrative inquiry aimed at determining the causes and responsibilities. The Port Authority of Santos (APS) confirmed that the ship had veered off the navigation channel near the Guarujá ferry crossing dock.

The State of São Paulo's Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics (Semil) also verified that the accident did not impact ferry operations. Maritime authorities have been notified, and further investigations are underway.
