Petrobras Awards $2.8 Billion Contract for 12 Newbuild Offshore Vessels to Enhance Operational Capabilities

written by Ella Trusteddocks (about a month ago)

Brazilian energy giant, Petrobras, has recently announced its decision to award contracts for 12 newbuild vessels valued at $2.8 billion. This strategic move aims to bolster the company’s offshore capabilities and enhance its operational efficiencies in upcoming projects.
The contracts form part of a larger plan, with the construction of these vessels set to be carried out by reputable shipyards. Significantly, six of these vessels will be constructed by DETROIT BRASIL LTDA, a well-known name in the industry for its advanced shipbuilding capabilities. These particular vessels are classified as Offshore Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs), and are expected to be delivered between January 1, 2028, and December 31, 2028.
Starnav Servicos Maritimos Ltda. will assume the role of orderer for these vessels. This collaboration marks a significant step forward for Starnav in consolidating its presence in the maritime service industry, capitalizing on the growing demand for specialized offshore vessels.
The new fleet is anticipated to significantly contribute to Petrobras's offshore operations, aligning with the company's long-term strategy for sustainable growth and enhanced resource management.
