Purus has placed an order for two 45,000 cbm dual-fuel ammonia-ready medium-sized gas carriers (MGC) from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea. These vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2027.Upon completion, Purus will operate one of the largest ammonia transport fleets globally, with a total of nine vessels. This fleet includes three 40,000 cbm MGCs already in operation and four additional 45,000 cbm MGCs set for delivery in 2025 and 2026. One of Purus’s MGCs has already successfully executed a ship-to-ship ammonia transfer, demonstrating its operational expertise.
The newly ordered vessels will feature an advanced cargo handling system designed to maximize flexibility and efficiency. This innovation will facilitate faster loading and unloading, significantly reducing turnaround times in port and offering cost savings for customers. This investment reinforces Purus's commitment to the sustainable and efficient transportation of ammonia, which plays a critical role in the global clean energy transition. Furthermore, Purus's ongoing Purus-Bluewater initiative to provide Clean Energy Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) solutions for low-carbon ammonia, clean hydrogen, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) strengthens the company’s position as a leader in clean energy transport and storage solutions worldwide.
