Gulf Energy Maritime (GEM), a Dubai-based operator of commercial product and chemical tankers, has confirmed a new order for additional medium-range (MR) vessels from HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in South Korea. The 50,000 deadweight ton (DWT) units are scheduled for delivery in 2026. While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the vessels will be named Gem Daniela and Gem Delilah. Established in 2004, Gulf Energy Maritime is a joint venture between Dubai’s Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), the Oman Oil Company (OOC), and Thales of France. This strategic partnership has positioned GEM as a significant player in the regional and international maritime industry.
The company currently operates a fleet of seven ships and has six additional MR newbuilds on order with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, slated for delivery over the next two years. The expansion aligns with GEM's growth strategy to enhance its fleet capabilities and meet increasing demand in the maritime sector. Gulf Energy Maritime’s continued investment in newbuilds underscores its commitment to maintaining a modern and efficient fleet, capable of delivering high-quality services in the competitive global tanker market. This latest order reaffirms the company's confidence in HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard's expertise and shipbuilding standards.
