Veritas Shipmanagement, a Greek company based in Vouliagmeni, Athens, has commissioned the construction of two kamsarmax bulk carriers from Hengli Heavy Industries in Dalian, China. This order, valued at $38 million, will see the delivery of the 82,000 dwt vessels in 2026, as reported by a Greek broker. Veritas Shipmanagement, listed on VesselsValue, currently manages a fleet comprising five bulk carriers and one small tanker. This latest investment marks a significant addition to their operations and highlights their ongoing commitment to expanding their maritime assets.
The Hengli Heavy Industries shipyard, formerly known as STX Dalian, has experienced a resurgence in shipbuilding activities since late 2022. This revitalized facility has attracted several orders from prominent Greek shipowners, including George Procopiou’s Sea Traders and Laskaridis Maritime, the dry bulk shipping division of the Athens-based Alimia Group. The decision by Veritas Shipmanagement to order new vessels from Hengli Heavy Industries underscores the growing confidence in the shipyard's capabilities and the continued strength of the Greek shipping industry in securing high-quality newbuilds. This trend reflects the broader maritime sector's recovery and the strategic investments being made by leading Greek shipowners to enhance their fleets.
